Hello. I've been asked to pass along a message from TACIT, the Caltech
theater group. The director Brian Brophy (of Star Trek, The Next
Generation fame) needs actors between the age of 20-30 to play graduate
students in a play about Jack Parsons, co-founder of JPL. Auditions will
be the first week in January. The description of the play and contact
information can be found below.

Caltech Theater Arts’ next play examines the World of Jack Whiteside
Parsons, co-founder of JPL, and his affiliation with Von Karman, Aleister
Crowley, L Ron Hubbard, Frank Malina, and Hsue-Shen Tsien. The play is
entitled Pasadena Babalon and will run from February 19-27, 2010.

Some major parts are:

    - JOHN “JACK” WHITESIDE PARSONS: Co-founder of JPL and Aerojet
Corporation. Self-taught chemist. Handsome, twenty-something, womanizer.
    Black magic occultist.
    - ED FORMAN: Co-founder of JPL and Jack’s best friend and fellow
rocket-builder. Jack’s “right hand man.” As Jack was “Chemistry,” Ed was
    “Hardware.”
    - FRANK MALINA: Co-founder of Aerojet and JPL. Caltech grad student and
fellow rocket builder with Jack and Ed. Protégé of Professor Von Karman.
    Communist sympathizer.
    - HSUE-SHEN TSIEN: Co-founder of JPL and Caltech postgraduate student
member of Jack’s “Suicide Squad.” Father of the modern Chinese space
    program.
    - APOLLO SMITH: Caltech postgraduate student and Frank Malina’s roommate.
Co-founder of Aerojet. A member of Jack’s “Suicide Squad.”
    - THEODORE VON KARMAN: First recipient of the National Medal of
Science. Caltech professor and co-founder of Aerojet and JPL. Supported
the amateur rocket experimenters when no one else would.
    - Jack's Wives:
    - HELEN: Jack’s first wife and fellow occultist. She later leaves him
for Wilfred Smith, the OTO President.
    - BETTY: Helen’s younger sister and Jack’s second wife. A sexy knockout
who seduces Jack away from Helen. She later conspires with L. Ron Hubbard
to cheat Jack out of $20,000.
    - CANDY: The “Babalon Goddess” that Jack conjures into existence after
    Betty leaves him.

Auditions are on Sunday January 3 and Monday January 4th. Rehearsals will
begin soon after.
The director also is looking for engineers to assist in the design and
construction of the moving parts of the stage.
